In this talk, we will give an overview of product development stages and discuss basic concepts of reliability, the difference between quality and reliability, and tools for reliability analysis. We will outline an SRM (Safe, Reliable and Maintainable) design and conclude with lessons learned in the field.
Bio: Dr. Tohumcu graduated from METU Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department in 1976. Until 1985, he completed his MsC and PhD at the same department. Meanwhile, he worked as an assistant and instructor.
In 1985, he left the university and worked in the defense industry for a total of 25 years. He worked at ASELSAN, ROKETSAN and TÜBİTAK SAGE (TÜBİTAK Defense Industries Research and Development Institute). Meanwhile, he earned the title of Associate Professor in the field of Electrical Machinery. While he was the Director of TUBİTAK SAGE, he retired in 2011.
Since 2012, he has been working as a part time instructor at Bilkent University teaching
ME 102 Introduction to Systems Engineering, ME 481-482 Mechanical Engineering Design I-II (Senior Project Courses), and ME 582 Fundamentals of Design for Reliability.
